I like blade runner especially the conversation he has with his maker when he wants more life and his maker says he doen't know how to give him his request. He wants him to be happy with the amount he has but it makes him really angry.
It's a disturbing moment when he realizes his god isn't much of a god.
You should never create a being with that kind of intelligence and expect him/her to be happy with a bag of life with a hole in it.

Another thing, when people think about the spanish inquistion they think how horrible is that how could people turn over others to the church to be tortured. I noticed the zen rock gardens in the video they always fascinate me. The raked sand representing the water rippling the rocks from what I understand must be formed by nature not cut by humans.
I like gardens with trees and plants of course but the simplicity and serenity of the rocks and sand is strangely inspiring.
I wonder who first thought of doing that and I imagine he/she showing it to someone for the first time and the other person looking at them like they were crazy. Because I think its an acquired appreciation.

it turns out that my biking accident on july 6th resulted in a broken collar bone.
i didn't know this until the va took x-rays yesterday - it took until then to get an appointment; my request for x-rays was submitted on july 16. fortunately, i've been mending nicely despite my 300 mile bike ride the last week of july and a 120 mile ride two weeks later.
i still haven't had a decent night's sleep since it happened - i'm exhausted..

i have always struggled to understand what prayers god answers and which ones he avoids.
most religions teach that god answers prayers, so people must feel that their prayers are being answered, yet the type of prayers seem to be very selective.. .
if god answered broad based prayers, then children in third world countries would not be starving, so he does not seem to interfere in global issues.
